A Day in My Life as a Remote Worker

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a remote worker, I’m here to give you a behind-the-scenes look at my daily routine! Working from home can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with its own unique challenges. From staying productive to maintaining a work-life balance, my day revolves around tools and products that help me stay on track, organized, and motivated.

Here’s what a typical day looks like for me, with a focus on the tools and products that make it all happen!

7:00 AM – Start the Day with a Morning Routine

My day starts with a cup of Nespresso coffee — it’s my secret to waking up and getting energized. I’ve tried many different coffee makers, but there’s something about the rich flavor and convenience of Nespresso that makes it the perfect way to start my day.

While I sip my coffee, I open my Google Calendar to review my schedule. Staying organized is key for remote work, and Google Calendar helps me keep track of meetings, deadlines, and personal tasks. It’s synced across all my devices, which means I’m always in the loop no matter where I am.

Product Mention:

  • Nespresso Coffee Machine (for that essential morning boost)

  • Google Calendar (to plan my day and stay organized)

8:00 AM – Dive into Work with the Help of My Tools

Once I’m awake and ready, it’s time to get to work. My first task is checking my Trello board to see what tasks I need to tackle. Trello is a project management tool that helps me stay on top of everything, from blog posts to upcoming collaborations. It’s a visual tool, so I can easily move tasks from "To-Do" to "In Progress" to "Done" as the day goes on.

I also open Slack, where I communicate with my team, share updates, and collaborate on projects. It’s a huge time-saver, especially for remote work, since it keeps all conversations and files in one place. Whether I’m chatting with a brand partner or discussing content ideas with my team, Slack is always open on my desktop.

Product Mention:

  • Trello (for managing tasks and projects)

  • Slack (for team communication and collaboration)

10:00 AM – Content Creation Time

One of my favorite parts of the day is when I get to sit down and create content. Whether it’s writing a blog post, designing social media graphics, or editing videos, having the right tools makes a huge difference. For writing blog posts, I use Google Docs because it’s simple, collaborative, and auto-saves as I work.

For graphics and visuals, Canva is my go-to tool. It’s so easy to use, and I can quickly design anything from Pinterest pins to Instagram stories. The templates are perfect for speeding up the design process without compromising on quality.

Product Mention:

  • Google Docs (for writing and collaborating)

  • Canva (for creating blog and social media graphics)

12:00 PM – Lunch Break and Recharge

Around midday, I take a break and have lunch. I make it a point to step away from my computer, so I usually enjoy a healthy homemade meal. I also take some time to unwind by listening to a podcast or reading on my Kindle. Reading helps me relax and recharge before diving back into work.

Product Mention:

  • Kindle (for reading and staying informed)

1:00 PM – Client Meetings and Emails

After lunch, I dive into client meetings and answering emails. For video calls, I rely on Zoom — it’s the most reliable platform for meetings, and I love the ease of screen sharing and virtual backgrounds for a more professional look. I use Grammarly to quickly proofread my emails before sending them out, ensuring everything is clear, professional, and error-free.

During meetings, I take notes in Notion, which is my all-in-one productivity tool. I keep track of ideas, meeting agendas, and even long-term goals in one place. It’s customizable and flexible enough to adapt to whatever I need.

Product Mention:

  • Zoom (for client meetings and video calls)

  • Grammarly (for proofreading emails)

  • Notion (for note-taking and organizing ideas)

3:00 PM – Power Through More Work

In the afternoon, I usually dive into content editing or research. To stay productive, I use Forest, an app that helps me stay focused by gamifying the process. You plant a virtual tree that grows as you work — but if you leave the app, the tree dies! It’s a fun way to stay on task.

I also make sure to take short breaks using Stretchly, an app that reminds me to stand up, stretch, and take quick breaks. It’s easy to get absorbed in work and forget to move, but staying active is crucial for maintaining energy throughout the day.

Product Mention:

  • Forest (for staying focused and avoiding distractions)

  • Stretchly (for taking productive breaks)

5:00 PM – Wrapping Up the Day

As the workday comes to a close, I review my task list on Trello to see what’s been completed and what still needs to be done. I update my calendar and set priorities for tomorrow. To wind down, I often take a few minutes to write in my Day One Journal app, reflecting on the day and noting down any thoughts or ideas.

After a productive day, I take time to relax and disconnect. I might watch a show, read, or catch up with friends.

Product Mention:

  • Trello (to review the day’s progress and plan for tomorrow)

  • Day One Journal (for reflecting and jotting down ideas)
